Balvonie Pinot Noir 2024
Crafted in anticipation of Ben and Helen's 50th birthday celebrations, Balvonie Marlborough Pinot Noir 2024 is a small production wine that delivers big on expression.
94 Points, 5 Stars - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
One block, seven clones, 330 high density planted vines. Hand harvest, whole bunch ferment, seasoned French oak. Thoughtfully produced by the McLauchlan family, Balvonie Marlborough Pinot Noir is a portrait of its place.
Lifted aromas of crushed red berries, liquorice all-sorts, leather and a touch of tobacco. The palate is an abundance of Stella cherry and crunchy plum flavours, with a touch of cedar box and black iris florals.
Dense garnet in colour with a soft blush rim. Lifted aromas of crushed red berries, liquorice all-sorts, leather and a touch of tobacco. The palate is an abundance of Stella cherry and crunchy plum flavours, with a touch of cedar box and black iris florals. The chewy tannins are well integrated, with fresh acidity and a flourish of minerality giving structure to the generous finish.
An ideal companion to New Zealand lamb, especially a well-seasoned bbq backstrap. A few other Balvonie family favourites are miso glazed eggplant, beef short ribs and confit duck. Blue cheese with a berry compote is also exceptional!
